HOBBIES

One of the topics explored in English I classes was hobbies.

As a way to apply the vocabulary and grammatical structures studied, students were encouraged to write about their hobbies, with the goal of presenting them orally in the classroom.

Some of the texts produced are presented below.

Hello! My hobbies are very simple.

My favorite morning activities are running, cycling, and walking my dog.

In the afternoon, I like to work in my workshop.

On weekends, I like to go out in a motorhome with my wife.

Antonio Fialho

Arts and crafts are my favorite hobbies because they help me relax and be creative.

At university, I'm learning Portuguese embroidery.

Laura de Sousa

Hello! My name is Ilda. My favorite hobby is ceramics.

In ceramics, I work with clay — a very versatile material with magnificent colors.

I can mold clay to create sculptures, simple decorative pieces, or practical everyday objects.

I can glaze my pieces in different colors or leave them in their natural color.

Clay is the oldest material used by humankind.

The art of working with clay creates a connection between the material and the artisan. There is no need for complex tools. Working with clay is very therapeutic, stimulating the senses and even reducing stress.

To this day I remember my childhood, when I used to play with my friend "Chiquito" and we would make clay dolls together.

Ilda Luz Santos

Hi, I'm Hobby — Peter's own hobby. We've been friends for many years and I've helped him make the most of his free time.

Together, we built countless miniature historical cars, among other creations.

Drawing and painting also keep him occupied in his free time.

More recently, he discovered photography and, with some persistence, is making real progress.   After all, he is stubborn.

He is a determined guy, and I will continue to support him.

And that's all for today. A big hug to Fernando, and to the rest of the group, just a simple piece of advice: never give up on your dreams.

Stay well and be happy.

Fernando Carvalho

Hello, my name is Eva and I enjoy practicing many different hobbies.

My days are very busy. I enjoy strolling around Seixal Bay.

I also do patchwork, fabric painting, and gardening.

I like Sudoku and I also like reading books.

Which one is my favorite?

I like variety — I never get bored!

        Eva Fialho

My hobby is dancing. I love it because it makes me feel good.

Dancing helps me forget about stress and enjoy the moment.

                                                                                                   Maiden of Woods

My name is Mary. I like doing many different things.

I enjoy going to see the sea, dancing, listening to music, and watching movies on television.

I also enjoy using social media.

                Jesuína Cruz

Hello, my name is Teresa. I have many hobbies that I love.

I enjoy going to the gym and I love reading adventure books on Saturdays.

Sometimes I also go to the movies on Sunday afternoons.

My favorite hobby is traveling with my family.

I also enjoy going to the garden with my grandchildren, walking my dog, and eating ice cream.

Hobbies are important because they help me relax.

Teresa Brito

My hobbies are reading, crocheting, and painting mandalas.

When I crochet or paint, it feels like therapy, and when I finish, I'm happy to see what I've created.

Hermínia Traquete

Hello, my name is Maria and I have two hobbies: reading books and traveling.

I enjoy reading because it allows me to learn about history, science, culture, and life in general. Books teach us new ideas, lessons, and experiences.

Reading is a great way to discover new things and understand the world. When I read, I can experience adventures without leaving home.

Books are silent teachers and true friends, and reading is my favorite way to spend my free time.

My second favorite hobby is traveling. I love visiting new places — it's an exciting way to explore the world and appreciate its lush nature.

Traveling is one of the best ways to learn about the world, discover new places, meet new people, and experience different cultures. It helps us open our minds and see things from a different perspective.

Whenever I visit a new place, I like to learn about the local culture and try different foods that we don't find at home.

Maria Santos Rosa

My name is João, and my days are usually quite busy with many different activities – routines and hobbies.

Each person has different hobbies and interests in their free time, whether for fun or relaxation.

I usually walk and run every day.

I enjoy playing chess with my wife or friends. I usually play once a week.

Another hobby of mine is cooking - steak with sour cream and mushrooms, and biscuit cake.

What relaxes me most is reading magazines and newspapers, as well as books. Reading or playing in a cozy place—whether in the cold or on a terrace in the heat—is very pleasant.

I also enjoy going to the beach for walks and swimming.

However, what excites me most is traveling, because we get to know the real life of the local inhabitants – the people, the stories and the traditions of the places we visit – which leaves a lasting impression on us.

I believe that having hobbies is very good for us.

    John Teles

My name is Maria Aline. I have several hobbies, but I'm going to talk about my favorite, which is painting.

I enjoy painting landscapes in oil with blue skies and a few clouds, little houses, imposing trees, hedges, and stones along the way. I also like painting still lifes.

I work with watercolor, acrylic paint, and pastel pencils as well. I particularly like using pastel pencils in my abstract paintings .

Painting calms me and brings me peace. Life has taught me that being at peace with myself is far more valuable than any wealth.

A Day in Our Lives

Bem-hajam!

Turmas de Inglês Nivel I e Iniciação

Daily Routines

No âmbito da disciplina de Inglês I, foi proposto aos alunos que elaborassem textos sobre o tema “Daily Routines”, utilizando o vocabulário aprendido e os
verbos trabalhados no Present Simple.

Saint Patrick’s Day

17th March - Today in honor of Saint Patrick's Day
17/03/2016

St. Patrick's Day or the Feast of St. Patrick is observed on March 17 as a religious and cultural celebration. It honors Ireland's patron St. Patrick. The date marks the traditional death of the saint. In the early 17th century, it was made an official Christian feast day observed by the Church of Ireland, the Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, and Lutheran Church...

Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona!

Green is popping up everywhere today in honor of Saint Patrick's Day. From the Chicago River in the US to the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt—even the Sydney Opera House in Australia is dressed in this dashing shade. Today in Ireland, the home of this holiday, there will be singing, dancing, parades, and potentially pinches for those of us who forget to wear our green!

Today's Doodle is by guest artist and animator Chris O'Hara, an Irish animator currently working in Los Angeles. In the spirit of the day, O'Hara chose to paint the logo green with a little assistance from a friendly shamrock. We hope it reflects the boundless energy and welcoming spirit of Ireland, as Google sports green for the great Éire.

Saint Patrick was believed to be born in the fourth century in Roman Britain to a wealthy family. At age 16, he was kidnapped and taken as a slave to Gaelic Ireland. There, working as a shepherd, he "found God." Patrick found his way home and eventually became a Christian missionary and bishop. He returned to Ireland to convert the people to Christianity. He died March 17. He became Ireland's prominent saint.
